Surrey archaeological collections, relating to the history and antiquities of the county
A volume of the Surrey Archaeological Society's county history transactions, published in London in 1917 for antiquarians and local historians. The plates reproduce monumental brasses as solid black silhouettes on cream paper: armoured knights with hands joined, women in long pleated gowns and horned headdresses, kneeling priests, heraldic shields and ribbon scrolls of blackletter inscription, all usable as high-contrast cut-out figures and crests.
