Tapestries, their origin, history and renaissance
George Leland Hunter's 1912 survey for American collectors, dealers, and decorators, published in New York by John Lane, tracing European tapestry from Gothic weaving to Gobelins production. Halftone plates reproduce whole tapestries with their wide foliate and cartouche borders, crowded court scenes, battles, and biblical episodes; useful for ornamental border frames, figure groupings, and dense allover pattern fill.
