An English translation by Alphonse Gouffé of Jules Gouffé's Le livre de cuisine, issued in London by Sampson Low in 1883 for household and professional cooks. The 161 woodcuts after E. Ronjat's drawings from nature show moulded puddings, pans, timbales and dressed dishes as isolated objects on cast shadows, dense hatching giving form to metal, pastry and jelly.
