The young folk's cyclopædia of games and sports ;
A reference work for children on games, sports, and card play, compiled by John Denison Champlin and Arthur Elmore Bostwick and published by Henry Holt in New York in 1899. The 700 wood-engraved figures are small instructional line cuts—seesaws and pivots, string-and-spool contrivances, inclined boards, balls and lenses—drawn with hatched shadows and lettered reference points, useful as diagram vocabulary, spot illustration, and hand-drawn technical arrows and labels.
