i68 ASSOCIATION OF ENGINEERING SOCIETIES. … use in each room. The smoke-pipes in each room were united, and run up through the middle of the chimney flue for that room and through the top of the cap, ending above everything else. The writer's attention was first called to this apparatus in January, 1885, when it had been in use some weeks.
