Ohio archæological and historical quarterly
Scholarly journal of the Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society, published in Columbus from 1887 for members, local historians and antiquarians documenting mounds, earthworks and state history. The plates are coarse-screened halftone field photographs — grass-covered mounds, wooded ridges, rock shelters, survey parties beside a bluff, fences and lone trees — whose heavy dot grain and flattened grey tones suit textured backgrounds, duotones and washed-out landscape fills.
