The art of the Saracens in Egypt
A survey of Egyptian Islamic decorative art by Stanley Lane-Poole, published in London by Chapman and Hall in 1886 for English readers and students of ornament. Wood-engraved plates record carved wooden panels, star-shaped tiles, inlaid doors and pierced screens, giving designers dense geometric interlace, eight-pointed star frames, arabesque scrollwork and mihrab-shaped panel borders in high-contrast black and white.
