A two-volume illustrated survey of English and Welsh cathedrals, abbeys and parish churches, edited by geologist and clergyman Thomas George Bonney and published by Cassell in London in 1896 for general readers and travellers. Wood engravings and halftones give exterior views across lawns and rivers, plus nave and aisle interiors with deep shadow, usable as architectural silhouettes, vault and arcade detail, and tonal backdrops.
