The Civil engineer and architect's journal, scientific and railway gazette
A monthly British trade periodical for civil engineers and architects, issued in London by William Laxton from 1839, carrying technical papers, patent reports and railway news for practising builders and surveyors. The plates are small wood-engraved line diagrams: sectioned valves and shafts lettered with reference keys, plan views of track and framing, hatched masonry courses in section, and fittings shown in perspective against ruled shading, useful as ready-made mechanical schematics and hatch textures.
