Art
Auguste Rodin's conversations with Paul Gsell on sculpture and realism, translated by Katharine Waldo Douglas Fedden and published in London by Hodder & Stoughton in 1912 for artists and general readers. Sixty-one halftone plates photograph sculpture against black or studio backgrounds: gaunt standing figures, draped robes, headless torsos, strong side lighting and heavy shadow useful for figure silhouettes and tonal studies.
