Davis's manual of magnetism : including galvanism, magnetism, electro-magnetism, electro-dynamics, magneto-electricity, and thermo-electricity
A mid-century American instrument manual by Daniel Davis, published in Boston by Palmer and Hall in 1854, explaining galvanism, electro-magnetism and thermo-electricity to teachers, students and buyers of demonstration apparatus. The wood engravings show benchtop devices in clear outline and hatching: spoked rotating wheels with radial teeth, coil-wound machines on turned pillars and plinths, brass terminals, wires curving to jars and hand-held plates.
