The gardener's magazine and register of rural & domestic improvement
A monthly horticultural periodical founded and edited by John Claudius Loudon, printed in London by A. & R. Spottiswoode for Longman, Rees, Orme, Brown and Green from 1826, addressed to gardeners, nurserymen and landowners. Wood-engraved views of grounds and public walks sit alongside ruled estate plans, planting grids and garden layouts, giving designers both dense stippled foliage scenery and flat diagrammatic line work with scale bars and keyed lettering.
