Handbook of light and shade, with especial reference to model drawing
A drawing manual on light and shade for model drawing, written by Mary Philadelphia Merrifield and published by George Rowney & Co. in London in 1880 for art students and teachers. Numbered plates show cubes, prisms, cylinders and hexagonal blocks casting shadows on tinted ground, plus stepped tone scales from light to dark, useful as geometric shading diagrams and gradient references.
