A home for all; or, The gravel wall and octagon mode of building ..
A self-build house manual by phrenologist and reformer Orson Squire Fowler, issued in New York by Fowler and Wells in 1854 to persuade ordinary householders to build octagonal homes with gravel (concrete) walls. The plates are woodcut floor plans of eight-sided houses, walls printed as solid black bars against tan letterpress ground, with central stair blocks, hinged door arcs, room dimensions and abbreviations like K.S., F.E. and W.R., plus a few exterior and cupola views; useful for diagrammatic geometry, technical lettering, and hatch and fill patterns.
