International studio
International Studio was the New York edition of the London art magazine The Studio, issued monthly from 1897 for artists, collectors and decorators reporting on painting, printmaking and the applied arts. The plates are halftone reproductions of paintings, etchings and pen drawings — soft grey landscapes with poplars and windmills, seated portraits, ink-dark house fronts — useful for muted tonal backgrounds and turn-of-century figure poses.
