International studio
An illustrated art magazine issued in New York from 1897 as the American edition of The Studio, reporting on contemporary painting, prints, and applied design for artists, collectors, and decorators. The 528 plates are halftone reproductions of paintings, drawings, and interiors in soft grey tones — wooded landscapes, robed figures on a terrace, peasant groups, and a dim cellar interior — useful as muted tonal grounds, period figure studies, and turn-of-the-century ornament references.
