Journal of the Franklin Institute; devoted to science and the mechanic arts
A technical periodical issued from 1826 by the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, reporting patents, machinery, and experimental science to engineers, inventors, and manufacturers. Illustrations are small letterpress wood-engraved diagrams: shafts, gears, levers, rollers, and frames drawn in plan and section, keyed with italic letters and dotted motion lines, useful as schematic line art, hatching texture, and annotation styles.
