Mathematical recreations and essays
W. W. Rouse Ball's Mathematical recreations and essays, published by Macmillan in London in 1911, collects puzzles, magic squares, geometric paradoxes and problems for students and amateur mathematicians. The figures are plain black line diagrams: labelled triangles and quadrilaterals, squares inscribed in diamonds, numbered circles crossed by chords — usable as geometric ornament, chart motifs or technical-looking pattern sources.
