Simon Henry Gage's 1911 laboratory manual on microscopic method and histology, published by Comstock in Ithaca, New York, for American college students and biology teachers. The 159 figures combine wood-engraved instrument portraits with maker's names cast into the stands, sectional cutaways of condensers and mechanical stages, and line diagrams of light cones, ray paths and aperture stops labelled with axes and letters.
