The microscope and its revelations
A Victorian handbook of microscopy by physiologist William Benjamin Carpenter, published in London by John Churchill in 1856 for students, physicians and amateur naturalists. Line engravings alternate between brass instruments drawn in careful three-quarter view with hatched shading and outline studies of cell walls, filaments and tissue sections, labelled A to D — usable as diagram frames, cellular pattern fills and equipment silhouettes.
