Ornament & its application; a book for students, treating in a practical way of the relation of design to material, tools and methods of work
A practical design manual by Lewis Foreman Day, published in London by B.T. Batsford in 1904 for art students learning how material, tool and method shape ornament. Line drawings and halftones record carved, inlaid, moulded and printed pattern: interlaced strapwork, rosettes in roundels, scrolling foliage borders and repeating tile grids, usable as black-and-white motifs, band patterns and surface fills.
