Report upon a highway bridge
A student engineering thesis of 1904 by Smith Leroy Stroud, submitted at the University of Illinois and reporting on the design of a highway bridge for academic examiners. Pale, badly faded photographic prints of a timber trestle and a through-truss span sit alongside hand-drawn stress diagrams in ink, with hand-lettered captions, load figures and member forces that designers can lift as line-art schematics or use for washed-out sepia texture.
