St. Mark's rest : the history of Venice written for the help of the few travellers who still care for her monuments

Ruskin, John, 1819-1900 · 1885 · New York : Lovell · 89 pictures

Catalogued as John Ruskin's St. Mark's Rest, a guide to Venetian monuments issued by Lovell in New York in 1885 for travellers, the scanned plates here are instead line diagrams from Ruskin's perspective teaching, drawn for students learning to construct solids on paper. The images are bare geometric figures in thin black rule: labelled points, rectangles, converging sight-lines to a vanishing point, and wireframe cubes printed over show-through letterpress text, useful as diagram overlays, axonometric frames, or type-and-line collage material.
