Studio international

1893 · London, Cory, Adams & Mackay [etc.] · 384 pictures

The Studio, an illustrated monthly of fine and applied art published in London from 1893 for artists, craftworkers and collectors of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau years. The plates here are soft-toned halftone reproductions of paintings and drawings: cottage-door figure groups in aprons and caps, women in long dresses gathered by a doorway, and wooded roads leading to a distant village, useful for muted grey tonal backgrounds, tree silhouettes and period costume reference.
