Theoretical estimation of the internal speed variation of a 3500 horse-power vertical cross-compound engine
An engineering thesis by William Lamont Abbott, published in 1904 and held at the University of Illinois, calculating speed variation in a 3500-horsepower vertical cross-compound steam engine for students and mechanical engineers. The plates are hand-lettered line diagrams: crank-angle grids, solid and dashed curves of effort, velocity and displacement, usable as ready-made technical linework and chart skeletons.
