Design of a steel highway bridge
A 1913 civil engineering thesis by Erwin Ambrose Reed at the University of Illinois, working out a steel highway bridge over the Salt Fork at Sidney, Illinois, for faculty examiners. The plates are hand-drafted in ink on ruled paper: half-truss skeletons annotated with member stresses, a river-crossing profile, concrete abutment plans and sections, and stress sheets in freehand engineering lettering.
