Japanese homes and their surroundings
A survey of Japanese domestic architecture written and illustrated by the American zoologist Edward S. Morse from field sketches, published by Harper in New York in 1895 for Western readers and architects. The 243 line drawings record gateways, entryways, tiled and shingled roofs, sliding screens, garden paths and interior fittings in fine pen hatching, useful for wood-grain textures, roof profiles and architectural detail.
