A technical periodical issued by the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia from 1826, carrying papers, patent reports and machine descriptions for engineers, inventors and manufacturers. Figures are line diagrams: labelled electrical apparatus reversed white-on-black, sectioned turbine runners and hubs, and ray traces through lenses, useful as lettered schematics, cutaways and optical geometry.
