A trade periodical issued from 1867 by the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut, for engineers, plant owners and inspectors concerned with boiler failure. The plates are wood-engraved sectional views of valves, riveted seams, threaded flanges and torn fracture surfaces, plus line diagrams tracing gas flow with arrows, offering hatched and ruled shading, cutaway conventions and schematic arrow notation.
