A periodical issued from 1867 by the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut, for engineers, boiler inspectors and plant owners, reporting on locomotives and steam-boiler explosions. Line engravings and stipple drawings show valves, gauges, pumps and testing apparatus, many keyed with letters, offering designers labelled diagram parts, piping runs and small machine portraits on plain grounds.
