The microscope; an introduction to microscopic methods and to histology

Gage, Simon Henry, 1851-1944 · 1917 · [Ithaca, N.Y.] The Comstock Pub. Co. · 153 pictures

A teaching manual on microscope use and histological technique by Cornell anatomist Simon Henry Gage, published in Ithaca, New York, in 1917 for students and laboratory workers. The plates are line diagrams tracing light paths through objectives, condensers and mirrors, with lettered rays, hatched lens bodies, stippled glass and labels set along the optical axis — usable as ready-made optical schematics and technical lettering.
