The Röntgen rays in medical work
David Walsh's 1899 clinical manual from Baillière, Tindall and Cox in London, written to teach British doctors how to make and read X-ray photographs. The plates are halftone radiographs of limbs, hands, feet and joints — grey fogged fields with pale bone shafts, dark soft-tissue masses and occasional needles or fracture lines — useful as soft-edged monochrome texture and ghosted anatomical silhouettes.
