The architectural antiquities of Great Britain, represented and illustrated in a series of views, elevations, plans, sections, and details, of various ancient English edifices : with historical and descriptive accounts of each
John Britton's antiquarian survey of English medieval and Tudor buildings, issued in parts in London from 1807 for architects, subscribers and antiquaries, pairing engraved plates with historical and descriptive text. The plates are fine-line copper engravings: castle and mansion fronts seen at a low oblique angle against broad skies of etched cloud, plus plans, sections and carved details, each with engraved caption and dedication lines that designers can lift as title-page lettering.
