The art of Florence, an interpretation
A survey of Florentine painting, sculpture and architecture written by Harry Huntington Powers and published by Macmillan in New York in 1918 for American general readers and travellers. The 126 halftone plates reproduce frescoes, panels and ceiling figures by Giotto, Masaccio, Michelangelo and others, giving draped standing figures, seated prophets between putto-flanked pilasters, lunette compositions and architectural backdrops in soft grey tones.
