City development, a study of parks, gardens, and culture-institutes; a report to the Carnegie Dunfermline trust
Patrick Geddes's 1904 report to the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust, published in Edinburgh, arguing for parks, gardens and cultural institutions as the basis of town planning, addressed to trustees and municipal reformers. Halftone photographs show bare-branched slopes, footpaths, hedged garden walls and civic spires seen through trees, with soft grey tonal ranges useful for muted landscape textures, silhouetted branch patterns and skyline motifs.
