The Civil engineer and architect's journal, scientific and railway gazette

1839 · London : [William Laxton] · 82 pictures

A London monthly trade periodical begun in 1839 under publisher William Laxton, addressed to practising civil engineers, architects, and railway men. The plates are engraved line diagrams — sectioned engines, valves, cylinders and masonry arches with lettered reference keys, hatched cut surfaces and dimension lines — useful as technical cross-section motifs, mechanical detail, and hatching patterns.
