The Civil engineer and architect's journal, scientific and railway gazette
A British trade periodical for civil engineers and architects, issued in London by William Laxton from 1839 for practising builders, surveyors and machine makers. The plates are wood-engraved technical drawings — sectional elevations, plans and part-details of waterwheels, turbines, shafting, valves and screw fittings — rendered in fine outline with hatched cutaways and lettered part keys, useful for diagram motifs, hatching textures and annotated machine parts.
