Modern views of electricity
Oliver Lodge's 1889 physics treatise, published in London and New York by Macmillan, explains electricity through mechanical analogies for students and technically literate readers. Wood engravings show pulley-and-cord models strung between planks with lettered stations and hanging weights, plus sectioned drawings of coils, terminals and apparatus rendered in fine parallel hatching, useful for diagram motifs and labelled technical schematics.
