A 1917 teachers' manual of physical education by Lavinia Mary Hendey, published in Sacramento for school and playground instructors in California. The halftone photographs show children in white pinafores and dark stockings playing ring games, hoop and ball drills, folk dances and marching lines on lawns and packed-dirt yards, offering grainy period crowd silhouettes, circle formations and outdoor group compositions.
