The Locomotive
A monthly journal issued from 1867 by the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut, reporting boiler explosions and inspection practice to engineers, plant owners and insurance agents. The plates are line engravings of boiler and locomotive parts in section, with diagonal hatching for cut metal, dimension lines in feet and inches, and letter or force labels, giving designers a stock of clean mechanical cutaways, bolted joints and arched plate profiles.
