The Architect
A monthly architectural and building trade journal issued in San Francisco from 1905 by the Architect and Engineer Co. for West Coast architects, engineers and contractors. Its plates are coarse, heavily inked halftones of completed houses, commercial blocks and shadowy interiors, each carried with a captioned credit line naming owner, material and architect, useful for high-contrast building silhouettes, degraded photographic texture and period caption typography.
