Architect and engineer
A monthly trade journal published in San Francisco from 1905 by Architect and Engineer, Inc., carrying building news, project reviews and technical articles for West Coast architects, engineers and contractors. Its plates are halftone photographs of finished buildings — flat-roofed stucco houses, cantilevered canopies, pipe-rail balconies, a floating concrete stair — printed in soft grey tones with strong cast shadows, useful for modernist facade geometry, railing details and period architectural photography.
