Architect and engineer
Architect and Engineer was a monthly professional journal published in San Francisco from 1905 for practicing architects, engineers and building contractors on the Pacific Coast. Its plates are halftone photographs of California houses — stucco walls, tile roofs, arcaded loggias, pergolas and planted terraces — shot through foreground foliage, alongside floor plans, construction details and captions naming owner, architect and town, useful for period lettering, plan linework and garden-framed building views.
