Comparative design of a viaduct
A 1912 civil engineering thesis by Roy Rudy Carter, submitted at the University of Illinois and comparing alternative designs for a railway viaduct, written for examiners and practicing bridge engineers. The plates are hand-drawn and hand-lettered in ink: truss webs and cross frames, stress sheets with moment diagrams, load figures in pounds, and shear curves plotted on printed graph paper.
