The Locomotive
A monthly trade journal issued from 1867 by the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut, for engineers, plant owners and boiler inspectors reporting steam-boiler explosions and inspection practice. The plates are line engravings of boiler shells, fireboxes, grates, flues and staybolt patterns in section and elevation, plus ruptured and torn plate seen in outline, offering flat rows of rivet dots, hatched grate bars and dashed construction lines usable as diagrammatic pattern and technical ornament.
