The Locomotive
A periodical issued by the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company from 1867 onward, reporting boiler explosions and machinery failures to engineers, plant owners and insurance inspectors. Halftone photographs show wrecked flywheels, burst cylinders, breached brick walls and heaps of cast-iron fragments laid out for the camera, useful for grainy industrial texture, broken-machine silhouettes and evidence-style documentary framing.
