A periodical issued from 1867 by the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut, reporting boiler explosions and machinery failures to engineers, plant owners and insurance inspectors. Coarse-screened halftones show ruptured boiler shells, snapped flywheels, torn plate and wrecked engine rooms, useful for grainy industrial texture, cutaway views of broken metal, and stark dark-field photographic backgrounds.
