Architect and engineer
Architect and Engineer was a monthly trade journal issued in San Francisco from 1905 for West Coast architects, engineers, and building contractors. The plates are halftone photographs of newly finished California buildings — schools, churches, civic halls, shopfronts — shot square to the facade in hard sun, with dark skies, cropped entrances, colonnades, and steel-sash window grids that give designers clean geometric fields and lettered signage.
