The architect, or practical house carpenter : Illustrated by sixty-four engravings, which exhibit the orders of architecture, and other elements of the art, designed for the use of carpenters and builders

Benjamin, Asher, 1773-1845 · 1850 · Boston : Benjamin B. Mussey · 101 pictures

A builder's pattern book by Asher Benjamin, the Massachusetts housewright whose guides shaped American Greek Revival building, issued in Boston by B. B. Mussey in 1850 for working carpenters and joiners. The sixty-four plates are fine-line engravings in black on cream: cornice and molding profiles built from ruled rectangles and compass arcs, entablatures, column orders, and geometric setting-out diagrams with dimension figures, useful as thin-line architectural ornament, profile silhouettes, and diagrammatic grid material.
