The car wheel; giving the results of a series of investigations
A 1907 technical report by George Little Fowler, issued in Pittsburgh by the Schoen Steel Wheel Co. for railroad mechanical engineers and car builders testing wheel strength and wear. Most plates are stark black-and-white contact impressions inked blots recording wheel tread and brake-shoe contact areas, printed in rows of three or as single large shapes, useful as ready-made organic silhouettes, stamp and ink-splatter textures, and grid specimen layouts.
